Collegetown Pizza: A Good Pie; Very Balanced Flavor

Overall rating: 9 Pizzas out of 10

The Delivery Call:
First impressions are what they are; of course my first impression of Collegetown Pizza was wrong. They asked for a credit card when I called for a pizza, this caused major warning lights to flash in my head. Plus they did this before telling me if they could deliver to my house; I tried to explain where my house was, saying it was beyond the Octopus - the phone went dead quiet, then "The Octopus?" Four seemingly futile minutes later I opted for pick-up as they couldn't deliver to my house. My expectations, and first impression were low; of course they were wrong as the pizza was great and the guys at the store were super too. But that credit card thing ...
The Pick Up:
Order Placed: 5:14pm
Promised: 15 minutes (They said 10 minutes and I told him I needed 15 to get there.)
Pizza Ready: 5:29 pm
Actual Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Bonus: They are lightning fast on making pizza; 10 minutes is fast.

The Pizza: 9 Pizzas out of 10
Pizza Style: New York Style Thin Crust
This is a tasty, well-made and well-balanced pizza everyone in our taste group agreed that it was good NY style pizza, even the hardcore NY-city folks. The cheese is full bodied with a wee-bit of browning to make it sing.
The crust is a bit chewy in parts, but plays the role of NY style pizza well, just be thin like a runway model and let the cheese and sauce rule.
The sauce is mild and flavorful and has the right balance of tangy tomatoes without being too acidic and a very subtle hint of cherries. Thumbs up on the sauce.
Not too Salty – to those far above Cayuga's waters we say drink up - this Za won't dehydrate.

CollegeTown Pizza is located at 401 College Ave., in Ithaca, NY
